Welcome to another episode of the Pursue Your Spark podcast. Today, I would like to talk about how to get more sleep and energy, and why sleep is so important. Sleep is the number one contributor to having energy, but it’s not the only factor to feeling well rested throughout the day.

You know, I’ve always been a good sleeper, even when I was little. My parents would joke that you could stick me anywhere and I’d sleep. Literally, we would go for a car ride, and once I sat in the back, I’d lie down and fall asleep. We'd go to grandma's house; I’d snuggle in a chair and go to sleep, no problem. To this day, I can go to sleep quickly .

But what has really affected my sleep is menopause. I can totally relate to waking up at 2 AM and not being able to fall back asleep. Sometimes my body just says, "Done. Let's get up and move." That makes for a terrible morning and a tough day to go through. So, I can totally relate to that not sleeping business.

So how do you know if you’re not getting enough sleep?

I am sharing the five telltale signs of not getting enough sleep

Followed by 12 strategies on how to combat all of these symptoms of under-sleeping so you can start feeling better now.

Finally four evening ritual you can start today

  • Turn off electronics
  • Take a hot shower
  • Plan on downtime
  • Turn out the lights. Darkness cues your body to release the natural sleep hormone melatonin, while light suppresses it.

I hope that my strategies are helpful to you and now you have a great plan here that you can implement right away. Pick the one that resonates the most with you and get started.

That's it for now. Until next time, where I want to talk about something that I struggle with, and that's trying to be perfect.
